Hi from Czech wiki – help[rediger kildetekst]

Hi and my congratulation to your new wiki. I am from the Czech wikipedia, and we have a problem. We translated the xxxx of Greenland from English and German, but it seem to us that they have a bad translation. Could you have a look there and tell us your opinion? Links:

Thank you very much and good look, 212.144.192.148 15:11, 25 Mar 2005 (UTC) (user –jkb- from Czech wiki).

Mark,

I suspect your command of Greenlandic is not much better than your command of Danish. This is my favourite: "(Jer ikke Sysop, bastillen! WIKIng ikke «international»! Myre samanstile Svansk folk: 1 Dk+1 Nor fk. Ikke i Fin / Fær fk, eller specil opstille Grønlds fk. I går holdbar glat give ild epstille hortigt!!!)" [1]

Why do you want to make the front page impossible to understand? Do you have something against the Greenlanders?

Note that Danish is an official language of Greenland and the native language of many Greenlanders not of Danish ancestry. As long as an accurate text is not written in Inuit language, the Danish text is necessary.

With your history of messing up Wikipedias, threats are not wise. I might complain about you at the mailing list if I wanted to.

"The thing is, when explaining an edit, you only have so much room. To use proper grammar and words of full length would not have fit in the edit summary. You try it. So, I shortened it until it fit which meant things like writing "Grønlds fk" or "1 Dk+1 Nor fk" which are obviously not properly spelt, and removing nonessential words (and in the process messing up the grammar) to shorten it enough to fit."
How do you explain "I går holdbar glat give ild epstille hortigt!" or "Myre samanstile Svansk folk"? This bunch of rubbish does not make any sense in Danish. "Jer ikke Sysop, bastillen" sounds really funny. Why do you refer to me as en:Bastille? In fact, I suspect that your command of Greenlandic is even worse than your command of Danish, which as a Germanic language is closely related to English and should be a lot more easy to learn for native English speakers.
That fact that a person located in Greenland edited the front page does not mean your grammar is correct or that your text makes any sense, which it most likely don't. He might be a newbie who didn't care to translate or do anything with a text which seemed like rubbish.
Why don't you edit Wikipedias in languages which you actually speak? Jimbo has told you to leave Wikipedias like this one in peace.
